Using Zoom to Increase Your Font Size

Where Did My "Type Size" Buttons Go?

Years ago, web site designers had to create custom programs on web sites to magnify content on their pages.  It was really hard to control which parts of the page would get bigger, though. Sometimes text on the page would get bigger, but the navigation buttons wouldn't, and pictures almost never resized properly.

With today's modern browsers, resizing the ENTIRE page is easy.  This feature comes standard on all the major browsers - no special development by web site designers required.

Using "Zoom" in Internet Explorer

Under View on the Toolbar, click Zoom and then choose how much you would like to magnify the page. 125% - 150% is often plenty. Tip: a quick way to zoom in and out is to use the CTRL key plus either the + or - signs.

Note: the good news is that once you set your zoom, it stays like that for all the pages you visit during your browsing session. Even other sites!

Using "Zoom" in Safari on a Mac

Under View on the Toolbar, click either 'Zoom In' or 'Zoom Out'. There is also an option to 'Zoom Text Only' however we recommend using the 'Zoom In' command instead so that the entire page changes size in proper proportion, not just the text area.
